I was born in Fort Wayne, Ind., where I graduated from Elmhurst High School. After high school, I attended Ancilla Domini College, earning a two-year degree in liberal art.
From there, I earned a bachelor's degree in accounting with a minor in sociology from Ball State University as well as a Master's of Business Administration with a HR Management specialization from Indiana Wesleyan University.
For the past 11 years, I've served as an accountant for the Department of Defense and also work as a Treasurer for Impact Life Decisions, a non-profit agency that focuses on youth coaching with academics, resilience, faith, and athletics.
I am a mother to one son, seventh-grader D.J. Summers.
